Thursday Thoughts

I’m linking up with Jen over at Ramblings of a Suburban Mom for Thursday Thoughts today!

~ As we begin the updates on the house, I have the first dilemma.  A family member says we should look into quartz countertops rather than granite.  Any input from those of you who have either in your homes?

~ Two Blacklist episodes in one week! Need I say more?

~ A quick update on my smoothie challenge from Simple Green Smoothies.  Week three is going fine.  I need to find the motivation to get on the treadmill, I seem to be sleeping poorly and need to get back up there.  I can do this!

~ I follow Maryse’s blog and saw a recommendation for a dystopian series: The Uglies.  I had to read it and I finished three out of the four books, I should be finished with the fourth one tonight.  I have really enjoyed these books, really shows how superficial our focus can be at times.

~ I loved my  PopSugar Must Have January box, I didn’t post a review since this is a late order box.  Hoping the February box is great too.  I don’t have any boxes pending at this time.  Should have more interesting news next week.

Ipsy February Spoilers

Received my Ipsy glam room sneak peek! Not sure if this is accurate since I only completed the first part.  The value seems like it might be high, will update once I have full access to my Glam Bag.

  • Cargo Lip Gloss (Sneak Peek #2)
  • Hey Honey Exfoliating Mask: This item is $35 for 1.7 oz.  This gel mask helps promote a smooth and clear complexion for a post facial feeling.
  • Luxie Angled Brush (Sneak Peek #0)
  • ModelCo Blush (Sneak Peek #1)
  • Tini Beauty Pearl Fizz Eye Powder (Sneak Peek #0)

Ipsy Sneak Peek #2, with the theme Your Lips Look Lonely.

  • Lip Balm City Color: This item is $3.99. It is packed with Vitamin E to help nourish and soften lips while providing a splash of color.  I’m guessing the shades are Berry, Fire, Spice, and Blush.
  • Cargo Anguilla Lip Gloss: This item is $16 for 0.08 oz. The innovative ingredients work in synergy to deliver a long lasting effect and contains a high content of shining agents to give the ultimate in brilliance, illumination and a wet, glossy look.
  • City Color Lip Stain: Retails for $4.99.  A hybrid between a lipstick and gloss, the Creamy Lip Stain is a new kind of lip product that applies smooth and creamy like a gloss and sets with a matte finish.  Shade looks like Flirtini.
  • Medusa’s Makeup eyedust: This item is $7 for 100% mineral pigment eyeshadow. The color seems to be Dirty, I’ll confirm once I have access to the Ipsy Glam Room.

Ipsy Sneak Peek #1 was posted on Monday.  Everyone will receive a blush.

  • Modelco Blush: We will receive Pink or Peach, full size 0.3 oz is $22.  I don’t wear blush often, I have natural blush. It’s good to have a sample size for the occasional moments I need it.

Ipsy Sneak Peek #0 was sent via email.

  • NYX Slim Eye Pencil: The colors look like 24 Karat, Silver, and Gunmetal.  Price is $3.50 for .04 oz. I’ve received this item before and they have some fun colors.
  • Pencil Me In Eyel Pencil: This item retails for $6.99. The pencil barrels are painted to exactly match the core color. “pencil me in” eye accent eyeliner pencils are considered the new “green” cosmetic because all shades contain anti-oxidants and vitamins which help to protect the eye area from daily exposure to destructive elements.item!
  • Luxie Angled Face Brush: This item is $16. The density of the brush allows for an even application without any wasted product and does not absorb the product into the bristles.
  • Tini Beauty Pearl Fizz Powder Shadow: This item is $12 for 0.06 oz. Great to highlight brow bones and illuminate inner eyes.  I’m excited to try this one out.
  • China Glaze Polish: This item is $7.50. The color looks like Dancing & Prancing.
  • Emite Eyelash Curler: This item is $25. Ergonomically designed curler which effectively reach all lashes. Made of durable steel with silicone rubber. Comes with three extra silicone rubbers.

Thursday Thoughts

I’m linking up with Jen over at Ramblings of a Suburban Mom for Thursday Thoughts today!

~ Super excited this week! We finally signed the documents for the refinance and will start looking for the granite countertop.  I will definitely post before and after pictures.  Mike also saw our cabinet guys next door and requested a quote for our closet.  Can’t wait!

~ Today some of my favorite shows are back from their hiatus.  My TiVo will be filling up.  Number one show to watch for me tonight is the Parenthood finale.  I know I’ll be crying…it’s been an emotional roller coaster the past few episodes.

~ A quick update on my smoothie challenge from Simple Green Smoothies.  Week two is going well.  I just need to try and prep everything on Sunday.  Other than that I have found a few very delicious recipes.  We have been eating out a lot less, walking more on the treadmill, and I lost 4lbs last week.  Great start for me!

~ I am now up to four books read for 2014.  I caught up on the series by Alice Clayton and read ScrewdriverMai Tai, and Last Call.  I love how her books are romance and comedy all in one.  I also read The Substitute by Denise Grover Swank and that was by far my favorite.  So glad to get back into reading.

~ I will be receiving my  PopSugar Must Have January box today or tomorrow.  I should also be receiving the Jan/Feb Ecocentric Box by this weekend, they are updating a few things and I will post on that soon.  I have a few other packages on their way can’t wait to see what they contain.

Anybody else excited about TV shows this week.  What will you be watching?

Thursday Thoughts

I’m linking up with Jen over at Ramblings of a Suburban Mom for Thursday Thoughts today!

~ I know I have been a bit absent from the Thursday Thoughts.  Things are just a bit crazy in our lives right now.  There is a hold on hiring my new co-worker…double work for me in the meantime.  We are also refinancing our house and will get to upgrade our kitchen countertops and master bath.  Plus this weather makes me feel horribly sick.

~ I am very excited about American Idol this season.  There are quite a few that have caught my eye and I can’t wait for Hollywood Week.  Tonight is the second to the last Parenthood episode.  Love the actors in that show!

~ I had to make some decisions on my subscription boxes and have decided to cancel my Escape Monthly.  This is to make room for the occasional PopSugar Must Have box.  Lately I have loved their boxes and it makes more sense for me right now.

~ I know it’s a bit late for the New Year’s Resolution update…but I must put it in writing.  In December I went for a full healthy exam and was told that I’m healthy.  The only thing they found was a Vitamin D deficiency.  Which was not surprising since I’m super pale and the sun and I are not friendly.  She also told me to stop eating out, that most of my weight is actually water retention.  We started our 2015 resolutions this week.

  • #1 Eat home cooked meals:  Our goal is only one lunch out on Friday and 2 dinners on the weekend.  We were eating out 1 to 2 times a day.
  • #2 Be Active: Mike has no issues with this one.  Me on the other hand, had to invest in a treadmill.  I started with 1.5 mile walk per day.  I’m hoping to increase that gradually.
  • #3 breakfast: We started the 30 day smoothie challenge from Simple Green Smoothies and it’s going well so far.  I don’t eat breakfast often and this is a great way of getting more vitamins.

~ The weather is perfect today to curl up with a good book.  Unfortunately, it’s a work day and I must try and be productive.  I need to start a new list of books, I have not been inspired to read in 2015.

~ I’m looking forward to receiving my  PopSugar Must Have September box.  I should also be receiving the Jan/Feb Ecocentric Box, they are updating a few things and I will post on that soon.

The weather here is driving me batty, 70 degrees on Tuesday to 39 degrees on Thursday.  South Texas weather is like that.  Anyone else struggling with the winter blues,  how do you deal with the winter woes?
