ShaRED

This month they had a special edition #shaRED outer box.  I was bummed the inside box wasn’t red as well.  Loved all the facts on the box!

November Theme

The theme for November was “Giving”.  I did not choose my sneak peek item this month.  I was happy to let the team at Birchbox choose my box this month.

First Look

This month my samples included in my box were:

Cynthia Rowley

  • Cynthia Rowley Beauty Creamy Lip Stain: ($20 for full size .17 oz) The color included was Hearttrob, great shade for fall.  I received a free sample with my initial subscription box this summer as an added gift.  I wasn’t a big fan of this lip stain, so I’ll be gifting.

dr. brandt

  • dr. brandt pores no more vacuum cleaner: ($45 for 1 oz) I’m very excited to try this blackhead extractor mask.  If it works I will definitely be ordering this from the Birchbox store in full size.

Hair Masque

  • Fekkai Luxe Color Masque: ($25 for  oz) I have frizzy curly hair and hair masques are now my favorite product.  I recently ran out of a sample I received and this came at a perfect time.  The fragrance is pleasant and the sample size is generous.  The Fekkai hair masque uses grapeseed oil and prevents color fade.

Folle de Joie

  • Folle de Joie eau de parfum: ($98 for  oz) I am not a fan of fragrances.  I have allergies and struggle with most scents.  This one seems very tolerable and I will be trying this for a few days and see how it goes.

iCurl

  • Mirenesse iCurl 24hr Mascara: ($35.96 for 15mL) The literature included with this mascara is intriguing.  I was glad to receive this instead of another eyeliner that I won’t use.

Mmm

  • Vosges Petits Blood Orange Caramel: ($20 full size) The dark chocolate was delicious with a pleasant caramel center.  I couldn’t resist eating this bonus immediately after I opened the box.

November Box

The November box was full of items from well known brands and a couple of new ones I’m glad to try out.  I will keep all items except one and that’s not too bad.

The value of my box is approximately $35 for a $10 cost.  Plus I received 60 points for reviewing the items in my box. So I actually had a $6 credit this month!!!  Sign up soon so that the box can ship out by November 5th!  Please use my link if you would like to sign up to Birchbox.

This month I purchased two of the Birchbox plus Bella J candles. I was so sad when I got the first glimpse of my box!  The post office was not very nice and as I feared the candle was broken.  The customer service at Birchbox was so incredibly great,  this is such a great subscription service.

The theme for September was “Fandom”.  I was unable to choose my sneak peek item this month.  I was happy to let the team at Birchbox choose my box this month.

October Items

October Items

This month my samples included in my box were:

  • No. 4 Clarifying Shampoo: ($58 for 8.5 oz) I was not a huge fan of this shampoo.  I think Mike received similar shampoo a few months ago in his BirchboxMan.  It does not provide enough foaming and the scent is not for me.  I will pass this on to him.
  • No. 4 Hair Reconstructing Masque: ($32 for 5.1 oz) The masque was really great.  It left my hair nice and soft and allowed for beautifully defined curls.  I saw decrease in the frizz too.
  • Spackle Under Make-up Primer: ($30 for 2 oz) I do not wear any make up.  This will be gifted to my niece.
  • Tocca Hand Cream: ($20 for 4 oz) I love hand creams.  I have not tried this one out yet.  I have received several samples lately and this one has a foil.  I am looking forward to trying it out.
  • Dr. Lipp Nipple Balm: ($14.50 for 15mL) This lip balm was a bit thicker than the product I usually use.  I applied it before my shower and it did an excellent job with my chapped lips.  Mike also liked it, very useful when weather gets cooler.
  • Lord & Berry Sparkle Black eyeliner: ($18 full size) I don’t use eyeliner very often.  This will be great for the upcoming holidays, can’t wait to try this out with the silver Cynthia Rowley pencil I received in September.

The October box was full of items that I might not go out and buy regularly.  I will try out all items except one and that’s not too bad.

The value of my box is approximately $30 for a $10 cost.  Plus I received 60 points for reviewing the items in my box. So I actually had a $6 credit this month!!!  Sign up soon so that the box can ship out by November 5th!  Please use my link if you would like to sign up to Birchbox.

This month the outer box was a pink Birchbox. There were great personalized labels this month.  Loved my notable title!

The theme for August was “Keep Calm and SPF On”.  I actually decided to wait this month without any sneak peeks.  I also decided that Birchbox would choose my box this month.  They had an Everyday Girl box which included the Harvey Prince Hello perfume, I wasn’t a fan when I received the sample in June.

When I opened my box the first look was intriguing.

First look

First look

This month my five samples included in my box were:

  • amika Perk Up dry shampoo: ($21 full size) I don’t use dry shampoo regularly, but  I do take small travel size with me when I travel.  This dry shampoo worked very well.  Although I may not purchase a full size I was glad to add this to my travel bag.
  • Dr. Jart + Dis-a-Pore Beauty Balm: ($36 full size) I haven’t tried this out yet.  I’m still using up some of my other samples.  I look forward to trying this on my nose where I have larger pores.
  • Naobay Body Radiance Lotion: ($24 full size) I was happy to receive a natural product.  The fragrance on this item reminds me of Juice Beauty.  It was not too heavy and did a great job moisturizing.
  • Noir Cosmetics Long-Wear Eyeliner in black: ($15) So happy to receive a full size sample.  This pencil glides on very smoothly.  I have a wedding next week and will get some good use out of it.
  • Benefit Cosmetics It’s Potent! Eye Cream: ($45 for 0.5 oz) The eye cream was really great. It felt refreshing and I could tell that it was doing a great job.  I was happy to get two sample packets.  These are slightly better than foil packets, still a bit cumbersome.

The card is always a detailed source of information on what is included in my monthly box:

Blue box

Blue box

This month the outer box was a blue Birchbox. The box on the inside was a special edition Women’s Health box. I think it’s really colorful and cute.

First look...

The theme for July was “Power Up” and included a booklet with 12 power up challenges. It included tasks like “Eating veggies for breakfast”. The box also included a free year subscription to Women’s Health magazine. That means this box was pretty much free.

Every box includes an information card to explain the items included in the month’s box with the price for the full size item.

Ruffian in Rosary

Ruffian in Rosary

Ruffian

Ruffian

This was the first month Birchbox introduced the option to choose one of your items. The options were a lip stain and a nail polish with several color options for both. I chose the Ruffian nail polish in Rosary ($10 full size). I have never been a fan of metallic colors. Yet, this was my favorite item in the July box. Go figure!  They also included perfumed nail polish remover towelette. This went straight into my travel beauty bag, haven’t tried it yet ($12 for 10).

Skin Care

Skin Care

The July box included two skincare items. The first is a Stem Cellular Moisturizer by Juice Beauty ($65 for full size).  I liked the moisturizer although I prefer a lighter lotion. The fragrance was a bit strong initially but was not too bad.  I loved that it is a certified organic brand and look forward to trying other items. The other item made by Marcelle is an 8 in 1 Power serum ($34 for full size).  This product was difficult to get from the tube. The serum was clear and a bit sticky feeling to it. Not something that works for me, but I’ve seen great reviews from others.

Ballerina

Ballerina

The palette sampler from Coastal Scents Revealed 2 was my kind of shadow ($34 for full palette with three brushes).  I have very sensitive eyes and don’t wear shadow daily. We had a party this weekend and I was able to give this a try. Definitely a winner for me, the full palette reminds me of the Naked palettes I’ve seen at Sephora. Now I need to look into cleaning my eyeshadow brushes…haven’t done that ever!

Whish

Whish

The last item was a Whish shave cream in Acai Grapefruit ($20 for full size). The shaving cream texture was fine. Unfortunately, the scent was cloyingly sweet. Too much for me, I’m thinking the lavender would be a better scent for me. I also included the Power Up challenges booklet in this picture.

The July box was a great value for me with a total of approximately $33 for a $10 cost and 10 birchbox points, it really cost $9.  It also included the Women’s Health magazine which essentially makes this box free. Plus I received 60 points for reviewing the items in my box. So I actually had a $6 credit this month!!!  Sign up soon so that the box can ship out by August 5th!  Please use my link if you would like to sign up to Birchbox.

June 2014 Birchbox + Coupon Codes

I received my June Birchbox on Tuesday and was super excited. It took exactly 10 days to receive my first box!!! Unfortunately, some of the items in the box needed to be reviewed the next day. Plus I had a lot of tasks to complete at work before the long week off for the fourth. I must say that at first I was a little confused that my box looked nothing like the cute Birchboxes I see on other blogs.

After I carefully opened the box…I found a beautiful pink Birchbox.

Photo Jun 24, 6 13 50 PM

Opening the orange tissue paper was like Christmas or my birthday for sure. The theme for this month is perfect, we have a great weekend planned to Fredericksburg next week.  Below is the first shot of my box…I actually freaked Sesi out with all the talking to myself I’m sure.

The first item in the box was a bottle of Davines Love Smoothing Shampoo ($24 full size).  The packaging is super duper cute.  I used this on Wednesday morning and found that the smell was not quite what I was expecting.  It doesn’t smell bad, it’s just a fragrance that I’m not a fan of I guess.  It did a great job on my hair although at first I thought it wasn’t working.  A sign that I’ve been using the same shampoo for a little too long.  Along with the shampoo they included foil packets of the Davines Love Smoothing Conditioner ($24 full size) and Oi All in One Milk ($25 full size).  The package was a little meh, especially in comparison to the shampoo.  But the products themselves were pretty great.  The conditioner actually left my hair really silky and smooth, helped me overlook that fragrance that I didn’t quite like.  After towel drying my hair I used the Oi and it was divine.  I could actually feel the difference in my hair.  Really liked the products together, glad they included them all.

The next product was not a favorite at all.  Definitely will gift the Prince Harvey Hello perfume ($55 full size).  They included a sample of this perfume which was too floral for me.  I did receive lots of compliments when we went out to dinner.  My sensitive allergies just cannot take the scent though.

The fourth product included in my box was the Egyptian Magic All purpose Skin Cream ($26 for 2oz and $38 for 4 oz).  This product is definitely going to be used by Mike.  At first I thought it was a bit greasy for me, but after a little online research I found that it’s great for skin problems like Psoriasis.  He has been using it for the past couple of days and I can see some difference.  If we see significant improvement this will be a full size purchase for sure.

Photo Jun 24, 6 18 09 PMThe next two products are my absolute favorites for me and I was a little skeptical of one of these.  The first was the Suki Exfoliate Foaming Cleanser ($32.95 for full size).  Absolutely loved the feel and smell of this product! At work they asked me what I did differently that morning because I had a certain glow.  I may have to invest in some of this when I run out of my current product.

Photo Jun 24, 6 21 29 PM

The last item was a LAQA & Co. Sheer Lip Lube Pencil in Coral ($18) and we received a full size item!!!  I was a little hesitant about the color, I would not choose a coral for myself.  I tried it on and found that it was super smooth and minty. Plus the color was not orangey at all, it’s been used for the past three days and will continue to use it.

With my first box I had also received a Cynthia Rowley Lip tint in Sugar.  The color was great but I didn’t care for the product itself.  It felt odd and the product fragrance wasn’t great.  I was happy to be able to try it out for free.

The June box was a great value for me with a total of $30.40 for a $10 cost and 10 birchbox points, it really cost $9.  This month they have a great code for 100 birchbox points if you sign up using code BBJETBLUE.  The hundred points are equal to $10 of product, it’s like getting the box for free!!  Sign up soon so that the box can ship out by July 5th!  Please use my link if you would like to sign up to Birchbox.
