Merengue Lesson DVD Review

I recently received the Merengue Dance Lessons by SalsaCrazy to review. I really enjoy latin dancing.  We have tried taking classes and we do not enjoy the partner switching.  This makes it easy to learn in your own home.  This is definitely a great option for the shy men in our lives.

The instructors on the DVDs are incredible detailed in their instructions.  They go over hand placement and the steps for each partner with easy to follow directions.  I think that although the videos are not always fun this is necessary as a beginner.  I think I see this as a great couple activity for sure.

The DVD is available with Prime shipping for only $14.95 on Amazon.

Thursday Thoughts

I’m linking up with Jen over at Ramblings of a Suburban Mom for Thursday Thoughts today!

~ Super excited this week! We finally signed the documents for the refinance and will start looking for the granite countertop.  I will definitely post before and after pictures.  Mike also saw our cabinet guys next door and requested a quote for our closet.  Can’t wait!

~ Today some of my favorite shows are back from their hiatus.  My TiVo will be filling up.  Number one show to watch for me tonight is the Parenthood finale.  I know I’ll be crying…it’s been an emotional roller coaster the past few episodes.

~ A quick update on my smoothie challenge from Simple Green Smoothies.  Week two is going well.  I just need to try and prep everything on Sunday.  Other than that I have found a few very delicious recipes.  We have been eating out a lot less, walking more on the treadmill, and I lost 4lbs last week.  Great start for me!

~ I am now up to four books read for 2014.  I caught up on the series by Alice Clayton and read ScrewdriverMai Tai, and Last Call.  I love how her books are romance and comedy all in one.  I also read The Substitute by Denise Grover Swank and that was by far my favorite.  So glad to get back into reading.

~ I will be receiving my  PopSugar Must Have January box today or tomorrow.  I should also be receiving the Jan/Feb Ecocentric Box by this weekend, they are updating a few things and I will post on that soon.  I have a few other packages on their way can’t wait to see what they contain.

Anybody else excited about TV shows this week.  What will you be watching?

Thursday Thoughts

I’m linking up with Jen over at Ramblings of a Suburban Mom for Thursday Thoughts today!

~ I know I have been a bit absent from the Thursday Thoughts.  Things are just a bit crazy in our lives right now.  There is a hold on hiring my new co-worker…double work for me in the meantime.  We are also refinancing our house and will get to upgrade our kitchen countertops and master bath.  Plus this weather makes me feel horribly sick.

~ I am very excited about American Idol this season.  There are quite a few that have caught my eye and I can’t wait for Hollywood Week.  Tonight is the second to the last Parenthood episode.  Love the actors in that show!

~ I had to make some decisions on my subscription boxes and have decided to cancel my Escape Monthly.  This is to make room for the occasional PopSugar Must Have box.  Lately I have loved their boxes and it makes more sense for me right now.

~ I know it’s a bit late for the New Year’s Resolution update…but I must put it in writing.  In December I went for a full healthy exam and was told that I’m healthy.  The only thing they found was a Vitamin D deficiency.  Which was not surprising since I’m super pale and the sun and I are not friendly.  She also told me to stop eating out, that most of my weight is actually water retention.  We started our 2015 resolutions this week.

  • #1 Eat home cooked meals:  Our goal is only one lunch out on Friday and 2 dinners on the weekend.  We were eating out 1 to 2 times a day.
  • #2 Be Active: Mike has no issues with this one.  Me on the other hand, had to invest in a treadmill.  I started with 1.5 mile walk per day.  I’m hoping to increase that gradually.
  • #3 breakfast: We started the 30 day smoothie challenge from Simple Green Smoothies and it’s going well so far.  I don’t eat breakfast often and this is a great way of getting more vitamins.

~ The weather is perfect today to curl up with a good book.  Unfortunately, it’s a work day and I must try and be productive.  I need to start a new list of books, I have not been inspired to read in 2015.

~ I’m looking forward to receiving my  PopSugar Must Have September box.  I should also be receiving the Jan/Feb Ecocentric Box, they are updating a few things and I will post on that soon.

The weather here is driving me batty, 70 degrees on Tuesday to 39 degrees on Thursday.  South Texas weather is like that.  Anyone else struggling with the winter blues,  how do you deal with the winter woes?

Instanatural Cellulite Cream with Caffeine + Retinol Review

I recently received Instanatural’s Cellulite Cream with Caffeine + Retinol to review.  Check out their website http://instanatural.com to see their other products.  This cellulite cream is available with Prime shipping for only $23.75 on Amazon.  I was not using a cellulite cream prior to receiving this product.

This cellulite cream was a surprisingly great addition to my regimen.  With my New Year’s resolutions came a treadmill and new eating habits.  These activities will help me lose weight and any help reducing the unsightly cellulite is welcome.  The cream was very moisturizing and I will be using this on my thighs and lower torso.  These are the areas I find the issues with cellulite.  After applying the cream I felt a cool refreshing feel and my skin is definitely appreciative of the moisturizing cream.  The cream does smell slightly like coffee which is a great sign as this is indicative of the butters in the ingredient list.  Can’t wait to see my progress in the upcoming months and the reduction of cellulite.

Instanatural Dead Sea Mud Mask Review

I recently received Instanatural’s Dead Sea Mud Mask to review.  This mask is available with Prime shipping for only $24.97 on Amazon.  My current mud mask costs significantly more.

This mask was great as it is fine for sensitive skin.  I have sensitive skin and my husband has rosacea and psoriasis.  We like to try natural items to prevent any chemicals that irritate our skin.  I was initially worried that the mask would smell fishy and fortunately it did not smell at all.  I tried this mask by first cleaning my face with my usual products and then applying a thin layer to my face.  Make sure you avoid the eye areas when applying the mask.  After 10 minutes I rinsed it off with warm water by massaging it off in a circular pattern.  My skin felt smooth and looked brighter.  The label recommends not using this product more than once a week.  I don’t suffer from serious acne but I can tell this would be beneficial with skin issues.  My blackheads did not seem as noticeable after using this product.  I do want to remind everyone that these results are my personal experience and that results vary for each individual.

SporkPack December Review

Disclaimer: This post contains affiliate or referral links.

SporkPack is a great subscription box for foodies.  Each month they curate a box with kitchen gadgets and delectable goodies. Each month ships at the end of the month for as low as $29.99.

For December there was no official theme but all the items were on the wacky side and I loved it. The items came in the new SporkPack square box with yellow tissue paper.  The box shipped via USPS and took 5 days to arrive.

There was a card included this month.  We usually receive detailed cards with product information and MSRP for each item.

December Sporkpack

December Sporkpack

This month they included two kitchen gadgets and 4 snacks/food items.  There was only one familiar item and some great new finds.  I was very excited by the Miracle Whisk pair!

For the kitchen gadgets this month they included:

  • Miracle Whisk and Miracle Whisk Sport ($59):  You can whisk, whip, mix or froth a delicious treat in seconds, making it the perfect addition to your kitchen.  I used this recently making Mexican hot chocolate and it frothed up perfectly.  Can’t wait to try some more recipes.

The food items included an interesting variety:

  • Apinya Ghost Vinadloo Thai Chili Sauce ($6):  I’m a bit scared but I’m sure Mike will love it.  A premium quality hot sauce inspired by Indian vindaloo and infused with Thai flavors. Pairs well with stir fried meats and veggies. Mix it with pasta sauces for a simmer sauce, mix with ketchup for a dip..
  • Ips Egg White Chips in Sea Salt & Black Pepper ($1.69):  I have read good things about this snack.  Very high in protein which makes it a great filling snack.
  • Kameda Crisps Wasabi Flavor ($1): I immediately yelled mine…as we saw this item in the box.  Mike just laughed of course! I will be trying this out on our next cold front.
  • Pocky Sticks ($1.21): Japanese chocolate cream covered biscuit sticks.  Yummy snack!

The December SporkPack had a total value of about $69, way above the price of the box. I really enjoyed this box from one of my favorite subscription boxes! Can’t wait to see what they include for our January box surprises.  If you are a foodie like me, sign up and await these wonderful items each month.
