Thursday Thoughts

I’m linking up with Jen over at Ramblings of a Suburban Mom for Thursday Thoughts today!

~ First of all I have to begin with apologies for my lack of posts.  Between work, weather, upcoming trip, and feeling blah, I have accomplished nothing in terms of my blog.  I feel overwhelmed, but I promise to get back on track soon.

~ We finished watching Extant on Amazon Prime.  We really liked the show and I’m wondering if they will do another season next summer.  I need to research that soon!  I’ve also started recording phase 2 of the new fall season.  We will be watching this weekend!

~ I am starting the Janet Evanovich series she wrote with Lee Goldberg, The Fox and O’Hare.  The new book should be released in November and I’m ready for something a little different.  After this series I’ll start the November Birchbox Bookclub pick.

Fox and O’Hare Series

~ I have so many reviews to post, it’s ridiculous.  Will try to get some out soon and catch up as quickly as possible.  Most of them are in draft form waiting for final opinion and prices.  The Birchbox Man for November and  Sporkpack are already on the way.

~ I received my Influenster Aussie Vox Box two weeks ago and today I received the Moda VoxBox.  I love these boxes even more because they are free!  I will post a full review after I have tried out the great items.

Moda VoxBox

~ I also signed up for several products to review and will be receiving some great items.  I am so excited to share these experiences with my readers.  I hope that this will help add some great stocking stuffer and gift ideas for this Christmas season.  I have four items I’m evaluating this weekend and will post information on these soon.  I’m thinking of starting a review list for quick access with prices.

We don’t have any Halloween plans, my mom turns 60 on Halloween and we will be celebrating her birthday.  I’m living vicariously through others this Halloween, any good costume ideas for this year?

Thursday Thoughts

I’m linking up with Jen over at Ramblings of a Suburban Mom for Thursday Thoughts today!

~ We have been so busy at work lately, lots of meetings and reports due.  Things are finally starting to slow down a bit today.  I even missed my Thursday post last week.

~ I really enjoyed my time with my dad at the island earlier this month.  The only bad part was his new dog, an Alaskan Klee Klai.  Oh my gosh that darn dog is something else! He nips if you move to fast, get close to my dad, or if he just wants to.  I had never met a crazier dog.  Now we are on the fence on what we will do for our next visit.

~ Enjoying the new continuous flow of new shows this season!  DVR is full and ready to catch up this weekend.

~ For the first time ever my Ipsy Glambag was soooo much better than my Birchbox.  I was actually happy with all my Ipsy items and can’t wait to try them.  Sad I received another eye pencil from Birchbox, at least there wasn’t perfume.

~ I never watch the news, Never!!! Yesterday when I turned on the TV my husband had left it on the news channel.  I was so unnerved by all the ebola coverage.  My dad and brother live in Dallas.  Plus my brother travels a lot!  Can’t wait until this all wraps up.

~ No time for reading right now, maybe next weekend.

~ I so behind on my posts.  I have to finish up  PopSugar Must Have September box, Ipsy, Birchbox, and EcoCentric Mom.  I had to move my pictures to an external hard drive when I switched phones.  I still have not had time to retrieve them with work being so hectic.

~ I have been receiving several products to try out and will be posting mini reviews.  I’m hoping that this will provide some good Holiday gift and stocking stuffer options for everyone.  I’m trying to think of how to organize a page on all the product reviews and sampling products I’ve been receiving.  I may be linking to some ideas from MommySplurge and her holiday updates.

Finally, got a bit of a cold front…60’s and high 50’s for like 2 hours.  What is your go to drink in the fall?

October 2014 Birchbox Man

Disclosure: This post may contain affiliate/referral links.

Birchbox Man is a monthly subscription which includes a lifestyle item and several grooming items curated based on the user profile. The box is $20 a month and has a great point system. They give points based on initial subscription and 10 points for each item reviewed. For every 100 points you can buy $10 of products from the Birchbox store.

Mike received his favorite Birchbox Man box this month. His box took seven days to arrive!!! This month’s lifestyle items included a mini multitool, boxers, whiskey stones, Quirky cord set, Lil’ Reds tiny party cups, and a polo shirt. He was hoping for a charger and his wish was granted.  This month’s box was a collaboration with The League and included items for every fan.  Mike received Box #18 out of a possible 25.

The Intrepid...

The Intrepid…

The theme for September’s Birchbox Man is .  They included the information card with specifics on the products.  Once again Mike did not want any spoilers, and again I had to take a peek.

Utility Tool

Utility Tool

The first item in the box was the True Utility Framework Mini ($17).  Mike was so happy to receive this item, his expression was priceless.  He has always been a fan of these utility tools and had been thinking of getting a new one recently. I think he would have been happy with many of the lifestyle options this month.  This would have been his top pick.  The tool came in a waterproof container which he will give to a friend to enjoy.

Skincare

The second item is his October sample choice, Jack Black pure clean daily facial cleanser ($18 for 6 oz).  He is really into his daily skin routine and this is always a great item for him.  He also received an Ursa Major fortifying face balm ($36 for 2.5 oz) which will get used up as well.  He has received a previous item from Ursa Major and loved the smell.

The next item in his box was an shave cream, Baxter super close shave formula ($18 for 250 mL).  It had a nice aroma and he was excited to use it for a few days, he’s just always in a hurry when he shaves.  Great to try, probably not a purchasable item for him. The full size costs $18 for 4 ounces.

Manly

Manly

His fourth sample was EastWest Bottlers Moonshine gentleman’s cologne ($80 for 3.4 oz).  Not really Mike’s usual scent, he’ll use it nonetheless.  He had a cologne last month as well so not too excited about this item.

The last item in his box was a sample of das boom industries lotion.  This item is available in several manly scents such as bay rum smoke & dirt, bourbon & leather, or yuzo shiso & saffron. This product is sulfate and paraben free making a better option.  The full size 8 oz costs $24. He received the bay rum scent and it smells very nice and manly.

The October box was approximately over $25 in products and samples.  Plus he will receive a total of 50 points for the reviews which equals $5 for the Birchbox store. Looking forward to the November spoilers!  This month’s box has been his favorite thus far.  Please use Mike’s link if you would like to sign up with Birchbox Man.

Looking forward to the updates for the November box.  If you haven’t ordered an October box yet, use  the code BBMANLEAGUE with the purchase of a monthly (or yearly) subscription you’ll get an extra 100 points ($10) to spend in the Birchbox shop. This offer expires October 10th, 2014.

SporkPack September Review

Disclaimer: This post contains affiliate or referral links.

SporkPack is a great subscription box for foodies.  Each month they curate a box with kitchen gadgets and delectable goodies. Each month ships at the end of the month for as low as $25.84.  Use NEWFRIENDS for a 20% discount on your first box.

For August there was no particular theme and it included a nice variety of items. The items came in a white box with a SporkPack label and wrapped in yellow tissue paper.  The box shipped via USPS and took 5 days to arrive.  Due to the items this month was a square box.

The card in the box was the same elegant stationary as last month.  It had a nice yellow border and gave the menu items for September.

There were two delicious snacks included this month.  The first was a freeze dried Nature’s All organic corn retail for $9.27 and can be found for as low as $5.99.  This was surprisingly delicious! It was airy and tasted just like sweet corn…mmmm.  Great nutritious snack.  The second was a bag of Himalania dark chocolate goji berries.  Right up my alley, I love chocolate covered raisins so this is a big hit for me.  These have a retail value of $5.68

Gourmet Goodies

For the kitchen gadgets this month I felt they did a great job with two Oggi items.  The first is an Oggi double bubble hand blown oil and vinegar cruet.  I won’t really use this item much and I will be using this as part of my mom’s birthday present later this month.  This retails for $14.17 on Amazon with prime shipping available.

The second item is all mine.  It is an Oggi sugar and creamer set that I really needed.  The creamer I have is difficult to wash.  Everyone who comes over loves my coffee and I know this will get plenty of use.  This retails for $14.79 on Amazon with prime shipping available.

The September SporkPack had a total value of at least $41 with an MSRP $43.91. This has been my favorite box so far.  Loving this subscription box!  Can’t wait to see what surprises await in October.  If you are a foodie like me, sign up and await these wonderful items each month.

Thursday Thoughts

I’m linking up with Jen over at Ramblings of a Suburban Mom for Thursday Thoughts today!

~ I am totally in love with my new phone.  Finally, got a case for it…I was going batty worrying that I’d drop it.  My only issue is the new update for iOs 8.0.2.  The screen seems to lock in landscape and I can’t get it to flip for quite a while.  Nothing major, just annoying.

~ Today is my first day off from work to spend with my Dad.  I am taking a four day weekend.  Hopefully, Mike can take a three day weekend.  I’m already at the Island (South Padre Island) enjoying the view with my morning coffee.  Weather could be better, overcast may be a blessing with the over 100 degree temps we get sometimes.

Ocean View

~ I have been enjoying all the new Fall premieres and new shows.  My favorite by far was the Blacklist premiere.  Oh my gosh I love that show!  Big Bang Theory of course is always at the top of my list.  Love those guys!

~ Supper excited that I received my FabFitFun box, loved it!  I will be posting a full review later today.  Check out the spoiler list on my post.  They still have a few boxes left sign up soon.  When you order make sure to choose a deal TRYFF for $10 off or FRUITWATER to receive a free water infuser.

~ Trying to decide what to read next.  I don’t have a particular book I want to read ASAP so I will play it by ear and update next week on my choices.  I have some work tasks I need to complete before I get lost in a good book

~ I have several reviews to post today and tomorrow.  These include  PopSugar Must Have September box, Birchbox Man, Sporkpack, and EcoCentric Mom.  I had to move my pictures to an external hard drive when I switched phones.  I still have not had time to retrieve them with work being so hectic.

~ I received my Tazo Tea Smiley Kit.  Can’t wait to go redeem my coupon Sunday.  I’m hoping I can find the Pumpkin Spice Chai.  If you want to try one of their new flavors get a coupon at the following link to save up to $2 http://h5.sml360.com/-/84pi. If you’d like an invite to Smiley Missions let me know.  So far I’ve completed three missions and I’m actively participating in 4 more.
